This blog will cover various topics regarding Invest Elyria and the city of Elyria. Comments are welcome, but please keep it positive and hate free. If you have any questions, we'll answer them the best we can. If there is something specific you'd like to see in this blog please let us know. Suggestions for topics are also welcome. Sit back, relax, read and enjoy.
Invest Elyria was started in 2010. We were granted 501(c)(3) status from the IRS in January of this year making us an official "non-profit". (All that information is public record meaning anyone can go to the IRS website and see for themselves) We also have a Board of Directors: Mary Bryan, President; Bobbie Sears, Recording Secretary; and Polly Onderko, Treasurer.
Our mission is to "…inspire, equip and mobilize the residents of Elyria through volunteering to take action that improves morale." Our vision is to help return our city back to a "position of strength through economic and social recovery."
We see Elyria as "our" town. We live here, many of us were born here, and we have family here. When you take ownership you want to make improvements and keep it great. We're not political, we don't support a specific candidate, but we will support what we see as an improvement or something having a positive impact.
One project we're very proud of is our Farmer's Market held every Saturday from 9 - 1. It was started in 2014 and has grown considerably. We could use a few more volunteers to help with this. If you're interested just let us know.
Currently, we have a small group of volunteers working hard to make our vision a reality, but we can't do it alone. We need your help! Please consider becoming a volunteer with Invest Elyria and/or a business partner. Donations are always appreciated and may be tax deductible. (Consult your tax advisor for more information)
