Invest Elyria is busy this month preparing for the rest of the calendar year. In the planning stages we are working with several people and organizations to make the end of this year memorable for those in need.
Some of the folks we are working with are:
Beth Doyle and her group "The Elyria Hookers" a knitting and sewing group for the Warming Drive during Compassion Week where last year IE and the Elyria Hookers were able to knit or collect over 1500 items that were put out in Elyria Square for anyone needing the hats, gloves, scarves, and other new and gently used clothing that Elyrians donated.
We will be distributing free produce and fruit to locations in Elyria till the end of October with food supplied by 2nd Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio. Fuel for our Mobile Market van and volunteer support supplied by Our F.A.M.I.L.Y.(Fathers and Mothers Involved In Local Youth)
Lorain Metropolitan Housing Authority that is allowing us the use of one of their units at Wilkes Villa to provide a pantry once a month where we can distribute food to all that come by our location at 156 Pratt Blvd.

Warm Clothing Donation Drive for the Warming Event–Did you know there is an Elyria group dedicated to the yarn arts? Knitter's, crocheters...all are welcome. The Elyria Hookers have meetings on Thursday evenings, 6 p.m. at Dairy Queen on Hilliard Dr., Elyria, OH.
We are also doing the Warming Event where we will be placing donated and our handmade warm clothing, scarves, hats, and gloves in Ely Square on Jan.20, 2020 at 10 a.m.

QuarterMania: A cross between an auction (where you hold up a numbered paddle to bid on an item), a raffle (where you are trying to win a prize), bingo (using a chip or ball with a number on it), a home party (gathering with friends),
IE Presents: "Quartermania" Mobile Market Fundraiser 2019:
The Mobile Market started last summer with Invest Elyria partnering with volunteers from Our F.A.M.I.L.Y (Fathers and Mothers involved with Local Youth) in providing those in need who do not have transportation with fresh fruits and vegetables from the Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio. So far this year we have served over 1400 people providing them with almost 13,000 meals, 55% of these meals went to children and seniors.
Mark your calendar for our event to support our Mobile Market so we can reach out to more families with our food distributions..Spread the word!!!

A note from Bobbie Sears 11/10/2019: Thanks to all who came out to the Quartermania today. Great vendors each with their items for the raffle, and supporting Invest Elyria's Mobile Market. I hope everyone had a great time and won an item or 2. Again Thanks.
